Kai Walks

September 15, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Here it is, one of the biggest steps in this little guy’s life, his first days of walking. These video clips were taken about a week and a half ago (when Kai was 9 and a half months), and he has already improved dramatically since then. Now there is no more stumbling or wobbling really, but rather more walking and, I kid you not, running. I only saw that once, but still, 10 months and short sprinting has to be some kind of Guinness World Record. Check out the video, and remember to reattach your jaw when you’ve finished watching.

If you’ve missed any video, or care to see the old ones (or really old ones) my youtube page is http://youtube.com/kaimjapan

Fall Is Here

B-Day Bash 5

Well its been a fast couple of months and I am sorry I haven’t hollered sooner, but things have been a little hectic around the house lately. Allow me to explain why.

First and FOREMOST Kai is now a full-on walking (trouble making) baby. He started to take little wobbly steps about 2 weeks ago, and then last week he became more confident moving around like a biped. Now there is no stopping him; he can walk from one side of the apartment to the other, and is getting faster everyday. All this at only a little under 10 months! Insane I know. I have a bunch of video of him learning to walk, so you all will be able to see how fast he progressed to basically a leisurely jog across the room. I now need to edit the video and put some music to it, because this is, without a doubt, the biggest milestone we have seen yet (now…if I could only get Kai to stop running around so I can make this movie). (more…)

Kai Quaker Lake Summer 2007 137

UPDATE: We made it back, and everyone is doing well. Still doing some Jet-lag adjusting, but things are good here in Japan. Also I added a new slideshow (mostly just Kai playing out in the back yard), and finally got those pictures of Kai Standing up. Just took another couple shots today of him up and on his feet for real, which seems to be the new cool thing for babies turning 9months old. I think we are going to see babysteps within 2 weeks. I guess we just have to wait and see, but the walking is definitely going to be soon, Kai can not wait any longer.

Well, we are just about ready to get up outta here, but it has been a lot of fun seeing everyone. We only have a few days left, as we will be leaving this Saturday the 11th (come take your goodbye pictures, and kiss Kai one more time before he returns with a girlfriend and a tattoo).

There were a few things we ended up doing while we were here, in order from semi-good, to semi-ridiculous: a trip to Atlantic City (Dad only, no physical evidence of us being there recorded, a.k.a. pictures/messes), eating pulled pork sandwiches, the parties, the swims in the lake, the baptism, and Kai standing all by himself for 20 FULL SECONDS.

For a more detailed view check out the pictures.

This Past Week

With Mom

The past week has been pretty busy for us. Kai has been trying to walk, any chance he gets, and me and Aya have been trying to keep up with him. After he started crawling, it took him about a week to realize he could pull himself up on things: doors, chairs, couches, legs, etc.. We are continually amazed at how strong Kai is; he never flinches when he is walking around and if he happens to bump into something there are few tears shed.

Kai was also out a couple of weeks ago with Mommy at a local Mom’s meeting. There he met some new friends, and had a chance to play with other babies his age. Kai got along great with the other kids, and Aya told me he was really inquisitive when he was with them (kid is going to be a genius, I’m telling you!). I guess he tried to eat one kid’s hair and pull another baby’s diaper off, the tell-tell signs of brilliance.

We also have been breaking in Kai’s new highchair and he seems to enjoy it so far. It’s hard for him to argue with us if we are feeding him, food is one of the many things Kai enjoys throughly.

That about wraps it up. We officially have 3 weeks until we arrive back in the U.S. and Aya and I have been starting the preliminary steps to board the plane: baby ticket (check), passports (check), ear plugs (needed), and the list goes on. I posted a lot of new pictures of the Kai-man from June. Head on over the the Flickr website to check them out.
